Whether looking to gain more information on the donation process, or a donor family looking for support and guidance navigating life after a loved one has passed, there are various resources available from which to choose.  Missouri is fortunate to have three procurement agencies, ten transplant hospitals, seven willed body programs, and six various associations and foundations that all support, educate, and promote organ, eye, and tissue donation.  Missouri, along with multiple national organizations, work together to provide the best resources possible.  Explore the tabs to the left to learn more about the resources Missouri has to offer.

Financial Assistance

Everyone has different financial and insurance needs. Explore your options. Here is a list of organizations that help provide financial assistance.

  • Missouri Kidney Program The Missouri Kidney Program (MoKP) offers assistance to low-income Missourians who have end-stage renal disease and are on dialysis or have a kidney transplant. Call 800-735-7345.
  • Financial Help for Treatment of Kidney Failure A resource page for individuals with kidney failure and need help paying for their care.
  • Medicare Coverage of Kidney Dialysis and Kidney Transplant Services An official government booklet that tells you the basics of Medicare, how Medicare helps pay for kidney dialysis and kidney transplant, and where a person can get help.
  • Medicare’s Coverage of Dialysis and Kidney Transplant Benefits: Getting Started An official government booklet that tells you about the benefits of Medicare coverage of kidney dialysis and kidney transplant.
  • National Living Donor Assistance Center The Center’s mission is to help people who are thinking about or have made the decision to be a living donor, and how to cover non-medical expenses like travel, lost wages and dependent care.
  • COTA and Raising Funds for Child Transplant Related Expenses The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) can help remove the costs to a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support for families with children and young adults on a transplant journey.
  • American Living Organ Donor Fund The mission of this organization is to help living organ donors overcome cost burdens related with living organ donation. They also provide other assistance to help living donors make informed and safe decisions. Living donation is a personal choice.
  • Meredith Haga Foundation The Meredith Haga Foundation gives money to help people who are living organ donors. This money can help cover everyday costs for those going through the process of being a living donor. The Foundation wants to make things easier for donors, reducing the stress and challenges they might face.

  • Life Savers (High School) An online program that empowers teens to share the value of organ, eye, and tissue donation.
  • Living Donation Some organs, or parts of them, can be donated while you are alive.
  • Organ Donation, How It Works Describes what happens before, during and after a transplant.
  • What Can Be Donated The list of organs and tissues that can be donated continues to grow. You can save up to eight lives and help heal the lives of 75 or more people when you become a donor.
  • Workplace Partnership A toolkit that helps you engage your employees in the lifesaving and healing that organ, eye and tissue donation provides.
